United, Sunport partner for ‘immersive experience’
Travelers arriving at the Sunport in Albuquerque will soon be greeted by an “immersive experience” that includes videos, messages, and projections featuring New Mexico United players throughout the facility.
The displays are part of a new partnership between the Albuquerque International Sunport, the City of Albuquerque and New Mexico’s favorite soccer team that makes the Sunport the official travel partner of the United.
“The spirit of One Albuquerque and Somos Unidos are on display in a big way with this partnership,” Mayor Tim Keller said. “When travelers step foot off the plane, there’s no doubt they’re in United country.”
However, the display is about more than welcoming visitors to the Land of Enchantment to United’s owner and president Peter Trevisani. It’s about instilling a little fear in the minds of opposing teams.
“When opponents arrive here, they know that they’re not just taking on eleven players on a field; they’re taking on 2.2 million New Mexicans,” Trevisani said.
United fans can expect to see social media collaborations and other joint marketing campaigns as well, including ticket giveaways at matches.
The displays at the Sunport will run through at least the end of the year.
