Chile Street is a weekly newsletter by journalist Ryan Lowery that is delivered by email every Friday morning. Chile Street provides readers with a look at the week’s top news stories from across New Mexico, as well as original reporting on New Mexico and New Mexicans.
Chile Street was founded by journalist Marie C. Baca, a former Albuquerque Journal and Washington Post reporter. First launched in 2018 as a roundup of New Mexico news, as the coronavirus pandemic began, Chile Street shifted to covering the best in New Mexico social media.
In July 2021, Lowery took the reins to allow Baca to focus on other things. Beginning with the July 22 issue, Chile Street took on its current format.
Ryan Lowery is an award-winning independent journalist whose work has been published by the Associated Press, Los Angeles Times, Albuquerque Journal, Santa Fe New Mexican, Santa Fe Reporter, and many others. Lowery is also a regular contributor to Source New Mexico and the Las Vegas Optic.
